Van de rollen naar een profcontract: 19-jarige Sloveen krijgt contract bij Dimension Data

Hij won de Zwift Academy die jaarlijks georganiseerd wordt door Dimension Data. Via wedstrijden op de rollen in een virtuele online-omgeving plaatste hij zich bij de drie finalisten. Samen met een Nieuw-Zeelander en een Brit mocht hij in Zuid-Afrika de laatste proeven afwerken onder toeziend oog van Mark Cavendish.

Aan het eind wachtte de geëmotioneerde 19-jarige Sloveen een profcontract bij de U23 van, Dimension Data. Dat team komt uit in het continentale circuit.

While flying to Cape Town I was watching ‘The Greatest Showman’. The chorus of one song in the movie goes: ‘Cause every night I lie in bed, the brightest colors fill my head, a million dreams are keeping me awake...’ Strange thing is that the same thing was happening to me last week only that in my case there was just one dream preventing me from sleeping. This of course was that I would become the winner of @gozwift Academy and sign a contract with development team of @TeamDiData for 2019. I’m slowly getting to realise what actually happened on Saturday and it will take a few more days for the news to completely sink in. I’m really proud to finally announce that my dreams became reality and that I’m the winner of 2019 Team Dimension Data Zwift Academy. I can’t tell how thankful I’m to everyone involved. I know that I already expressed my gratitude to each one of you for many times now but it still feels like it wasn’t enough. For me the week in South Africa felt like a fairytale with the best possible ending. Now it’s time to show the people who believed in me, that this was the right decision and that I deserve the spot in the team. 2019 here I come! Cheers Everyone!
